Respite Services

These services are intended to ensure that the consumer’s needs are met when a Family Member, Family Care Provider of loved one/home-parent staff has to deal with such things as illness, emergencies and vacations.

Basic Respite Services are provided by someone other than a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse by means of hourly Respite.  This Respite may be delivered in a person’s Home, Family Care or OPWDD Certified or Approved Site, with the exception of IRAs.  When delivered in the person’s home, it may be provided for hourly or 24 hours in one day.


ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

• Diagnosis of Mental Retardation and/or Developmental Disability
• Medicaid Waiver Enrolled
• Consumer has chosen to participate
